Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a wide range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms as well as arms control. She traveled with Ronald Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss issues including the Iran Contra controversy.
